The void

the void is smooth,
soft with long licks
of velvet tongue;
at times
jagged, it’s cold brittle
frame gaping, ice laden
again
as dark as pitch
it summons the moments
least willing to be remembered;
relentlessly
piercing sharp stabs
ripple, swoon without constraint
burst achingly through vision,
but
endless, yet contained
within a fleshy mould;
ever present.
