End of year odds
general :: posted on December 19th, 2009

As the year come to an end there are always a lot of events and happenings that seem to define it despite what happened 10 months ago! Ross has come home for Christmas after spending a couple of weeks in Africa preparing for a longer stint of working in Uganda and Rwanda. He brought back some beautiful woven baskets and cloth which I will treasure!

It is also presentation time and this year Abi is finishing high school (year 10) and she received the art purchase award from Ogilvie High School. Her painting, on the right showing an ocean scene, will now be part o there collection. Congratulations Abi!

Amy also had a graduation night in Melbourne and judging by the smiles it was a good event! It was a busy year for her with study and work – so proud of your achievement Amy Jane!
It was my graduation as well, but I will be getting my certificate in the post!

In between was Abi’s birthday and we decided to make a Croquembouche! Admittedly our tower wasn’t a huge event, but the profiteroles were light and tasty, the creme patisserie was smooth and creamy and the toffee threads crunchy making it a fun and yummy cake!
So now it is time to get organised for the family days ahead, busy but wonderful to have such a time! Jay Dee has a great post up with a video of octopus utilising coconut shells on the sandy ocean floor. That’s what I will be thinking about and smiling in the quiet moments!

Hi Jay Dee – I’ve enjoyed reading about yoru travels as well! And the gallery is looking fabulous – I look forward to seeing it when I’m next in Brisbane, such a great achievment.
Have a fantastic break over Christmas xx
