Garden moments

The garden is looking its exuberant best at the moment with wonderful rain and sunshine we have had. But of course it is becoming more sunshine than rain, which means the balance will soon tilt and the moment will pass. So I took a few snaps so that the family who will be visiting in December will get to see what it was like before the heat moved in!

There are fruit trees randomly placed about the garden which will keep increasing as the need to produce home grown food continues to increase. This year I bought a little hothouse too. It was not an expensive one and the plastic shattered almost as quickly as I put it up! But despite the need for new plastic next year (thanks to some tape this year) it is already making a big difference to our vegie growing. I have been struggling for years with the birds who peck at the young plants, the dogs who like to be unsavoury around my food, the snails and slugs who thrive in the garden beds and space.

So the large pots that I have been experiemtning with for the last couple of years are now doing their job in the hothouse. The top photo was taken only about five weeks ago and the growth for Tasmania has been absolutely stunning! I can see the tomato plants will soon be reaching the top of the hothouse! I grow quick pick crops around the base of the larger plants, like spinach and loose leaf lettuce.
Anyway, thats my garden moment…
