The week that was

abi award night

It was one of those weeks when you have so many things to do and only one body to do it with! Monday evening was Abi’s award night where she received an a merit for her work this year which was really fantastic! The ceremony was held at the Grand Chancellor Hotel in the Federation Hall which was built to house the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and has proved to be an excellent venue for plenty of other events as well!

steve graduation night

We were back at the Federation Hall on Wednesday evening for Steven’s graduation ceremony for his Bachelor of Computing which was a really fabulous event. We managed to get in early and be sitting right at the front. It has given me courage to maybe take the walk of gowns in the not too distant future for my graduation… maybe. A huge congratulations to you Steven!

Thursday was Abi’s birthday – yippee! She celebrated by going to school for the last day and helping pack up the chairs etc before the school holiday!

Friday was a family night with my mum, recently returned form Alice Springs, and wee went to watch a movie at the beautiful State Theatre. We watched “I’ve loved you so long” which is a French movie and hopefully Steven will understand the French aspects of my personality a little more now…

self portrait, oil on cavas, 2008

Finally feeling a bit frustrated about not getting into the printroom to work on a set of prints that are begging to burst onto paper I slipped downstairs and let fly on the canvas in a self portrait (lets face it who else would sit for me!). I think maybe the English bits are coming out in this one… maybe…

So the week to come will be just as busy I think, but then sometimes everyone melts away to do whatever they have to do and over the past few years I have found myself in a very quiet printroom after a big xmas day enjoying the peace and wishing it for all.

Aw thanks Linden… but you should point out that you already have a Bachelor of Arts in Environment and Wilderness Studies, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking with First Class Honours, and are talking about your mid-year graduation from your Master of Fine Art in Printmaking.

Now that’s getting to be impressive, dear. :)

That is impressive, Linden! Wishing you and yours a happy Christmas!
