A sniff of spring

My neighbour gave me a young daphne he had grown from a cutting. This was a break through for me as I have unintentionally killed several daphne’s in my gardening days and this seemed to be the best hope I had of actually getting one to grow. I grew it on in a pot for the first year, then planted it out when it had a good size and strength. And look - it’s flowering!

The daffodils are in full bloom about the city, and my favourite little soft apricot pink one is out to greet the morning sunshine. It is an August Pink and I have managed to keep it for about 15 years now - very unusual for me!

ahh the smell of daphne. Your picture reminded me of the sweet smell.
It has been so long since I smelt daphne.
