Yesterday Gaby set up her exhibition of PHD research work in the Top Gallery. It has a surprising amount of wall space once you get in there with the prints, which was excellent as it allowed her to shuffle to work about to get a feel for the next steps in her print development.

Gaby has been exploring the complications of a mother and son relationship through the difficult teenage years through printmaking. Etching has been a primary form of print, although woodcut in large scale format has also enabled Gaby to stretch the limits of print.

This exhibition is very much a show that enables the artist to assess the direction and development of her work for her PHD and at the end of the day all or none may be a part of her final submission! So here is an opportunity to check out some beautiful work during the month of August in the Top Gallery, Salamanca Arts Centre, Hobart. The opening is tonight at 5.30pm. You can also find a little more info about Gaby on the Osmosis 08 website.
