Eaglehawk Neck surf

An unexpected trip to the Tasman Peninsula was rewarded with a rare big surf rolling into Eaglehawk Neck. The sets were regular and very big, which explains the absence of board riders! It looks quite tame from my perch up on the cliff, but even the brave little girl inside me thought ‘not today’. We used to watch the huge surf on the Sunshine Coast after the cyclones, totally in awe of the massive power the waves hurled at the beach carving out the sand and dumping it back again in a brown angry froth. I’m told that when I was a toddler we had a trip to watch the waves and run along the crumbling dune top and it wasn’t until we were all well spread out that mum remembered I was a toddler! We survive by accident I’m sure!
