Woodblock print

exchanges, my art, prints :: posted on July 14th, 2008

I have been working on a couple of exchange prints at home. It is the way I unwind from the university work - believe it or not!

first state woodblock print

This is the first layer for the woodblock  print which is for the Baren Forum. I don’t go in a lot of the Baren exchanges because I don’t work in woodblock very often, yet, so I’m not hugely confident. The website has a lot of information on it to answer questions about working with carving, which is a great resource. One of the things that I love about working in woodblock or lino is that it is relief and I can use the baren to print with. I only have the very cheap palm leaf baren, but it works quite well. I find the relief print is so much faster to achieve, no lengthy wetting and wiping that you need to do for intaglio.

Anyway, I intend to print a few more layers on this one, so I will keep you posted! I have also been missing out on plenty of exhibitions around the place, so I am determined to head out and have a look in the next few weeks.
