first view of tnorala

This was my first view of Tnorala, in the distance. This is a huge impact site from a comet that struck the earth about 140 million years ago. The impact was so great, reaching to a depth of 4 kilometres, that it affect the global climate for a considerable length of time - a hundred years if my memory from the information sign is right!

You can see how the landscape around Tnorala has been affected, with these wave like hills stretching of hundreds of kilometres around the impact site, which has now eroded to just a 5km core. It is quite a significant atmosphere around Tnorala, and of course it is within Aboriginal land management, so movement within the core is restricted to a small section.

Sunset and sunrise are the best times to see this amazing landscape and it was probably one of my favourite places on this journey. I did a couple of paintings, but I think I’ll post them tomorrow!
