Its a book!

My recent trip to Melbourne was a bit rushed. I didn’t actually get time to check out the Ian Potter Centre, which is part of the National Gallery of Victoria, and I wish I had managed to get there as there is currently an exhibition of works by Sidney Nolan. He is such an Aussie icon in the art world, and this looks like an exceptional collection of his work. The NGV Gallery magazine article by Kirsty Grant says of the exhibition ”…rather than depicting Nolan as a painter of narratives and legend, as he is so often interpreted, presents almost 120 paintings that Pearce selected as ’singular [examples that] track his career and unfold the legacy of his genius’, from the early abstracts, St Kilda pictures and Wimmera landscapes, to the iconic Kelly series and the grand spray-painted images of the 1980’s.”
So, as a no small consolation prize, I just visited the online NGV shop and ordered a copy of the catalogue… just when I should be saving for the power bill and rates bill and food bill… sorry Mr B, I tried to be good, but you knew I never would…

I guess you’re just getting well again and deserve a treat missy. I’m sure it will keep you entertained on the couch.
And I thought you were a good girl lately.

ahhh yes it is amazing how being sick with the flu for a few days can seduce a man into thinking I am a shadow of my former self - mere illusions! I’m sure you will enjoy Sidney Nolan too - he has been a missing piece of the art book collection for a long time!
