Painting with Yvonne Rees-Pagh

On Thursday nights I have taken up the challenge of painting with Yvonne Rees-Pagh. Her class is an introduction to contemporary painting with a strong emphasis on abstract art and as a consequence the freeing up of the artists painting style. She has given us the theme of climate change and the issues associated with the long term effects on the environment, which is a fantastic theme to work with.
Yvonne is an accomplished printmaker, holding an MFA, and she also has an extensive history as a painter. We have had one lesson which was an introduction to the incredibly energetic and highly concentrated form of painting. The approach to the canvas is with a conscious idea of what you want to say, but with an open mind to the possibilities that happen as a the canvas develops and the paints blend. Its exciting!
