Dog Debate

I love my dogs, just as this lady loves her dog, but it is an interesting shift in the status if the dog that has happened in the last generation that brings into question how far is too far? When they become handbag accessories? It is of course a signature of a society that can afford to shower their pets with choice food and adornments. The food resources for feeding these pampered pets could make many a hungry man weep. But on the other side is the shift from social family structure - meaning the choice of many to have no children and the dissipation of the family unit - and the very human need to nurture and love. Personally I think the shift in affluence, which in the current state of the world is such that people are probably at a peak of freedom and wealth, will decline as the world resources decline, and we will all go back to making our own mint jelly from the locally grown apples, and live in small communities. But hopefully the appreciationĀ of valuing the life of a pet will not be lost and regress to harsh lives of disassociation.
