LARQ is the innovation of Raymond Arnold and the exhibition schedule for the next few months is a testimony to the need for opportunities for international and local artists to work and exhibit in the regional areas of Tasmania. Lets face it, that is where the wilderness is, and the epic tales of human endevour and of course the continuation of politacal debate.
Arnold Weidinger is an Austrian born artist who is currently showing a range of work spanning the last 50 years. Mount Lyell became his place of work and his painting became a practice of the night. His exhibition closes on March 8.
Next up is photographer Ivan Stringer from March 16 to April 13.

The only way to really appreciate a photograph is to see it in person, so if your thinking about heading to Queenstown…. but Ivan does has some of his work on the internet.
Raymond Arnold follows from April 19 to May 17 with an exhibtion titled Western Mountain Ecology. He will be featuring paintings and prints he has developed over years of engagement with the Tasmanian landscape.
Sue Jane Taylor is the schedule for an exhibition from the 31st of May to June 28. Working with industrial sites, Taylor has a superb style of drawing that captures not only the material structure of things, but also a sense of the presence of the person, object, buildings or debris she has focussed on. Her website has some of her work and some interesting reading as well.
LARQ is located in Queenstown, south west Tasmania, at 8 Hunter Street.
