I picked up some pamphlets today with all sorts of juicy information about exhibitions about the place. The Schoolhouse Gallery and Barn at the Rosny Farm has an intriguing exhibition slotted in for the next few weeks titled ‘Endangered – Drawing The Line’. With performances exploring the plight of endangered species, workshops and and exhibtion it looks like a show not to be missed if your in the area.
Blair Waterfield is next off the ranks with an exhibition at Entrepot.

‘Past, Present, and Everything in Between’ is a solo show for Blair that opens this Friday 29th at 5.30pm at the gallery, Tasmanian School of Art, Hunter Street, Hobart. He is a meticulous artist working with screenprint and a range of printmaking methods to produce thought provoking images. The show continues until the 14th of March.
Bricolage is a competition aimed at increasing environmental awareness of waste. As a design prize, the challenge need to create an original, durable and marketable product that is comprised of a significant proportion of industrial waste products. The competition closes on May 13th and you can check out all the details for the $5,000 prize on the Tasmanian Department of Tourism, The Arts and Environment website.
Tasdance are doing a tour about the place as well, and they are visiting some smaller regional towns too, which is really good to see. One for sorrow, two for joy is the latest production for this vibrant team. They also have a great website for all the info on the tour.
The Mountain Festival is on again this year too. There is a return of the very popular sculpture trail and of course the incredible film festival . But primarily it is about getting everyone up to the mountain to join in with some activities. Great stuff! The action starts on Friday the 7th of March.
Last but not least is an art fete held by 6A. This is a new studio in Hobart – 6A Newdegate Street in North Hobart to be precise – and they are taking steps to do something a little different which is fabulous! The brochure reads – Six A Art Fete, buy collectible art by comtemporary artists. And there is also a CD launch by the Vivids and it is all happening on the 2nd of March at 5pm. I found their Myspace website which does have some of the work that you might find in the art fete.
