Just another day

Today is just another day, but it also a birthday for many people, and was my fathers birthday. So that is why this day was a bit of a mixed up day for me. But at the end of the day, I decided to dig into my mobile phone and download the photos that are clogging it up. And there were the photos I took in Mapleton, where my Dad used to live.

This is the main street of Mapleton, which has remained a quaint town in spite of the rapid coastal development that has transformed the once country coastal strip to yet another city strip of souless shops and shoppers. We used to go to the cafe here, or the little restaurant and the newsagent. They all know each other and it is a friendly sort of place to be.

The range, which sits above the Sunshine Coast, is a bit cooler and has some beautiful rainforest on it. The soil is a rich red volcanic one which supports tremendous growth and plenty fo wildlife. Mary, my Dad’s wife, still lives up there and so I still visit and sit in the cool, fresh air and remember my Dad.
