Some oddments

Every now and then all the little bits that seem to make the day rich bubble to the surface and demand attention! Like Peter Watson. No he isn’t an artist, but the peppercorns they sell are so delicious! The smell of tasty peppercorn with each turn of the grinder wafts up to really make adding a dash of pepper to a meal a very pleasant experience.
Then there is the hair thing. Having hair that is long enough to be a nuisance means that there needs to be a constant supply of hairbands to tie the fronds back, but finding those pesky little things can be so hard at times! My sister had the solution. For years she has been chopping sections off her old stockings for use in a second life as a hair tie. Brilliant! They are easy to loacte – on the table next to the scizzors, are super soft on the hair – no nasty tangles and being quite a good length can be adjusted to suit varying hairstyles! And they come in a range of colours custom matched to your wardrobe – lacey – black sleek – seriously tan…
Also making the oddments list is a website I came across when I was researching recipes for making paint. Tony Johansen has created a website dedicated to teaching people all about making paint from the ground up. It is such a superb resource – unbeatable! It is just packed with historical and educational notes that really make you appreciate the total practice of painting prior to the ease of commercial purchasing. And of course for the stumbler like me who just gets an idea about starting from the ground up – for me the beautiful ochre from Central Australia – and just wants to know what to mix together to make it work. Thanks Tony!
Another little bonus I came across is spirulina. Now this is a tale of sitting rather bored in a doctors waiting room (waiting waiting) and listening in to other peoples conversations (come on we all do it). Anyway a rather lively man was very animated in his description of feeling so much healthier since he had been taking spirulina. So I checked out the brand he was talking about and found that they have a free sample – brilliant! So I have been taking a smaller dose than they recommend, just top see if it helps my energy levels and yes I do believe it has been quite good. I have also noted that I haven’t had a low iron problem since I have been taking the tablets, which is one of those ongoing annoyances. Of course it may all be an illusion, but it certainly can’t be hurting, since it is seaweed!
Maybe that is enough of the little odds for the day!
