Gallery by the Beach
exhibitions :: posted on January 31st, 2008

The wind was up at Park beach yesterday, so instead of swimming I had a look into the “1 on Park Art Gallery” which overlooks the beach. Actually you can’t get much closer to the beach than this gallery and private residence as it sits above the carpark. Patricia Turner Smith has turned the entire bottom floor of her two storey home into a gallery space that not only accomodates her own warm and cheerful paintings, but also offers spce for local artists. The current exhibition is called Tesserae and includes paintings and mosaic work as well as some truly exquisite embroidery combined wioth painting by Celia Player. Coming up on February third is a fashion parade organised by Patricia’s daughter Eve who is involved with the wearable art that happens each year at Wrest Point Casino. I can’t imagine a more wonderful setting for a gallery and stunning showcase of wearable art than with the backdrop of Park Beach, Dodges Ferry, Tasmania!

Patricia,
I am the lady from Armidale who came to visit today. Sorry I didn’t have more time or affluence to spend there. I meant to have coffee and just forgot…
Tell your friend in Armidale to look me up whenever. I dont work or go out often and miss the humour I once had.
I will keep my eyes out for Bob Roberts as well.
Your Gallery is lovely. Chao
